Children in halloween costumes. A fairy, mummy, witch, vampire, pirate and lady bug.

Halloween is a fun holiday that many call a favorite, please help us continue the parade tradition by selecting costumes that meet our Farmington Rules:

Be respectful: Avoid stereotypes. Be racially sensitive and culturally appropriate. Students may not dress up as an ethnic or cultural group (i.e., a Mexican, a Geisha, Native Americans, etc). Skin color must not be altered in any way.

Be responsible: Recognize that students in a wide age range will see the costumes. Costumes should be family friendly. Masks may not be worn. Costumes may not be gory or threatening.

Be Safe: No hand-held accessories, which includes wands, weapons or signs. Crowns or hats may be worn. EVERY STUDENT FACE MUST BE VISIBLE AND STUDENTS EASILY and QUICKLY IDENTIFIABLE.

Be Kind: Costumes should be fun and exciting, not political, or offensive

Be Understanding: Students may dress up as fictional characters if they follow the above guidelines. In respect to the Native American view, please refrain from dressing up as Native Americans (i.e., Pocahontas, Sacagawea, Sitting Bull, etc.)

Be Timely: Our parade will be held outside at the beginning of the school day.

If it is cold…dress warmly as the parade will continue. If it is heavily raining or snowing, the parade will only be virtual on our Facebook page.

Classroom teachers will be reaching out to parents to help provide a classroom Halloween activity that day. Please watch for specific time of the activity and details from your child’s teacher.
